Vietnam Day 5: Flying to Phu Quoc
8:53 am – There aren’t many fat people here. There are a handful of men and women with slight belly’s but most are either malnourished or average size. Hai pointed out it is due to the small portions they feed for meals at restaurants. Then he asked for a second bowl of Pho.
10:45 am – Driving to the airport to fly to Ho Chi Minh, then to Phu Quoc. Each flight is about 40 minutes, but we are transferring in Ho Chi Minh to meet up with the rest of the family.
12:51 pm – Met Toan & crew at the airport. Rio is much more talkative than last time we were here. ‘Ba Toan, Ba Toan’
2:34 pm – Quick flight to Phu Quoc, heading to the hotel now.
3:57 pm – At the evening set up of the night market. Taking a stroll through to check out the area and buy street foods. Will have to come back after dark.
4:02 pm – Lot’s of small trinkets, exotic seafoods, and pearls in the market. Seafood is extremely fresh and cooked in restaurants right next to the vendors.
4:16 pm – Eating fried banana, coconut mochi, grilled squid, and other fun foods.
4:37 pm – Saw a man catch and clean a cuttlefish at the waters edge. Fresh as it gets.
5:07 pm – Saw a fisherman offloading crabs from a boat. We are going buy some and have the hotel cook it. 80,000 vnd per kilo for the dead crabs, more for fresh.
9:45 pm – Bed time.
