Vietnam Days 11-14: Relax and Depart

As the two quick weeks came to an end, we spent the final days in the countryside with family and friends. Playing cards, cooking, lounging, drinking, and hard manual labor define the rituals of the people living an hour and a half outside of Saigon. Rather than doing my non-stop journal scribbles, I chose to relax and take a few pictures defining the ambience and mentality here. These pictures definitely don’t do justice the amount of hard work that goes into everyone’s daily lives, but they do show some of the payoff.

Thanks to those of you who followed this trip to Vietnam, and keep an eye out for my most ambitious trip/blog to come next March (hint: 22.5700° S, 17.0836° E).

The family’s cashew roastery went under an Industrial Revolution over the past year – expanding vertically and buying large machines to take over several of the roasting processes.
